Are You Knotting your own Noose?
There is the experience and then there is the interpretation of the experience. Often times we are already trying to analyze the interaction as its happening, which splits the experience itself in half, so instead of the actual beach, we are choosing to describe the beach in the tv of our mind which could be as skewed as CNN or FOX news. This desire to cliff note our lives is exactly what’s making it feel like a summarized, methodical, watered down, mandatory version, versus, a rich, uninhibited, wildly fantastic, open ended version.
The narration negates the novelty. The demand to know the unknown is the strangulation of opportunity. It cuts off the airway to possibility and squeezes dry the power of passions’ potential.
The cultivation of our mind space is the difference between clarity and confusion. To see, is to witness; it is to watch unbiasedly as the benevolent beholder. It’s only natural that our perception saturates both our internal and external dialogue like a Florida summer’s rain. This kind of excess leads us to untruths that look and feel like truths and to the suffering that is sure to surmount into a Mount Everest of delusion.
If we are trying to get something, feel something, know something, give something, hold something, or direct something, we are already lost to the magic of the moment. Manipulating the moment with personal agenda is like sneaking up to the attic and seeing your Christmas presents before Christmas morning.
This makes presence and purity synonymous which is why yoga is all about purification. Because to free ourselves of the analyzation, the narration, and ultimately the bastardization of the moment, we have to free ourselves of impurities. Your being is so holy and so sacred, that to feed it with anything less than pure, is poison. It is the suffocation of self. Trying to control, dissect, and interpret the moment is a noose around your neck, however, what we can control is where we go, what we do, who we talk to, what we watch, what we eat, and so on. The freedom we reap from those conscious choices is the ability to relax into the safety of our own sanctity. That is the security necessary to release our incessant addiction to interpretation. The willingness to collaborate with life opens the floodgates to our personal freedom. It is the balance of choice and surrender that is the ultimate liberation from the lies that make our life anything less than extraordinary.
Every moments’ magic is ordinary, so ordinary, it’s extra ordinary. So let us embrace the ordinary with extra enthusiasm and ride off into the florescent sunset, enthralled by every single moment of what we GET to call ordinary, as beings on a planet of planets, in a universe of universes.
My gratitude to you dear one who has taken the time to engage with me and my contemplations. May they gift you with some kind of clarity whether in accordance or contrast, either way the perception is expanded. May you know and feel your goodness and grace.
Blessings,
Andrea Dawn
