Sutra 1.26: The Guru & Timelessness
Sutra 1.26 continues to provide us with more details about Ishvara. Thus far the sutras have told us that there is a God or Supreme Being, free from human affliction and it is all knowing. Sutra 1.26 makes it even more clear that this God is not of human nature as it states that Ishvara is the Source of all knowledge as well as is timeless or not subject to the constraints of time. Regardless of your particular beliefs or non-beliefs or your always being shaped beliefs about Ishvara these are two very exciting topics to explore, that of the guru and that of timelessness and how they play a role in the quality of your life.
For some the phrase guru might feel foreign, close to home, or maybe triggering. When translated Guru actually means: “remover of darkness.” So whatever term you choose, guru, teacher, coach, angel, mentor, or guide, let us embrace that these “removers of darkness" can come to us in very human forms and they can be the difference between living in misery, mediocrity, or magnificence. Choosing to open ourselves up, so that someone can help us know where to aim the light, is absolutely a commitment to our own inner peace, it’s the difference between playing the game alone, or playing the game and having your guru, guide, or coach, miked in your ear, gifting you their stadium seat perspective. The discoveries we make possible by embracing an expanding perspective are the difference between waiting your whole life to feel whole, or daring to dive down into the hole so that you can skillfully climb out embodying your wholeness.
Time, such a strange phenomenon, especially considering we just experienced a time change, how funny that one day, we all agree to just proclaiming it a different time. Accepting that these man-made constructs are man made, gives us the responsibility to accept that if man made the construct, there has to be the space outside of the construct, thus accepting timelessness as a nature to be explored. That feeling when you are immersed in a conversation, a project, a thought, a day dream, and you have absolutely no awareness that time has passed or not. Maybe we could consider this kind of total immersion, the same as the presence of Ishvara. So when we feel like we don’t know God or have an understanding of Source, this is actually not the truth, every time we experience this feeling, we just had a latte with Ishvara. Schedule a coffee date daily, and watch your world explode with wonder.
Muchas Gracias Beautiful Human,
Today and everyday we get to invite Ishvara into our moments and re-define what having a relationship with “God” looks and feels like. Our sincerity and consistency is EVERYTHING. So grateful for you.
Blessings,
Andrea Dawn
